I see what you mean about the crows foot. If the date has been altered from a 9 to 5 it is clever

I have just checked my green beret and the crows foot is above the size. The 5 on mine looks the same. All the stamps look authentic SuPak. Does anyone know if they changed the location of the /I\ and when??

Usually the fakers put the inspection mark in the wrong place. If it is a fake it’s cleverly done

Well, sold for £460! I feel sorry for the buyer.
The typeface is not consistent with a WW2 Supak original beret.
This is what it should look like:

I can’t explain the absence of line which should be there even for post war berets (apparently below the maker’s name according to Steve).
Anyway, a high price paid for a very suspicious beret!

Type into google SuPak berets and click on images. Interesting. Looking at the makings the 5 is not crisp and under the Z there is something. I think that it has been faked. Looks to be a 48 or 49. Looks like they stopped putting in the line above the makers name. They had to alter the J to a Z and the 8/9 to a 5. The only thing they could not move without leaving a horrible smudge was the arrow which they left.
Well spotted, I got caught as it was close with most of the elements there. That is a very expensive beret for the highest bidder. I’d like to get my hands on the swat that faked it. Shows you what a great place this is.

Irv

As eBay will remove the listing and pictures at 90 days I’ve taken the liberty of screenshotting the images (plus a few zoomed in shots for added detail) so this thread can retain its usefulness in the distant future.
