Mess Plates
Never thought I'll be hanging plates in my cave, but I couldn't resist not having them.

Congratulations Vincent, I too have a few plates, tea cup and saucer, wine glass and goblet, and other assorted items with the ubiquitous Gun on them! They make an interesting addition to the real passion of badge collecting. Best regards, David J.

Though not actually “Mess Plates”, these commemorative plates show rather well in my “Dining Room” and attest to my interest in the Royal Regiment of Artillery.
The photo’s do not do the plates justice as my photographic skills are somewhat lacking but the artwork i think is superb as well as the addition of the gold and platinum leaf work. Very hard to capture. |

Hi David.
Thank you. Your pieces are lovely!! The only commemorative plate I own is the one commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The workmanship is simply stunning and meaningful. The mess plates are now displayed with pride in my study. Hopefully I could get some more, but i believe they're very hard to find nowadays having been smashed around in the messes through out these years. Having said that the pieces in my collection are in very good nick!! No cracks or chipping. Worth noting the difference in quality through the years. Regards and stay safe Vincent |

Hi Vincent, Thought you and others might be interested in Knowing that “SPODE” recognized the “Gunners” involved in the manufacture of the centre of the three plates above. Regards, David J.
