Its the standard NCO's arm badge that has had the loops removed and then brooched as a sweetheart badge.

regards

... it appears to be a pre 1922 13th/18th Hussars (Queen Mary's Own) NCO sleave/arm badge... this one on the chevrons is a post 1922 badge and is marked Gaunt London...

Hi
Could you give me the dimensions please, as judging by the design of the cypher, and if the smaller variety, its more likely to be an early pattern 18th Hussars. Which are a lot more scarce than the larger later 13th/18th type.
Regards
Rob

Hi sorry for delay in response.

Thanks for dims, I believe your badge is 18th Hussars worn pre WWI can be found in wear in 1911-15 photos. Very similar to/if not the same as shown Ref. L&D 32.1 - 18H C. yours appears to be a white-metal version.
As has already been said its pin brooched for use as a sweetheart. Nice example of early arm badge.

I hope that's of help to you.
Regards Rob

Rob, thanks for the info and dating the badge for me. Really pleased with this one as it was advertised as 13/18th and priced accordingly. I thought it was 18th, so pleased the punt paid off. Now confirmed I will move it to its new home.

Regards
Ian
