Default What is this badge?

Hi All,
I am having trouble putting this badge into a time frame and trade.
It is a large size for the arm so worn by Petty Officer and below.
Thanks
Barry

For King's crown period.

Chief Stoker 1914-1932.
Mechanician 1932-1948.
Chief Petty Officer Stoker Mechanic, higher rate of pay 1951-1955.

All of which would seem to be ratings who would wear the smaller collar badges?

David.

This badge exists in both versions, smaller one for the collar and larger for the cuff. The difference in size is not always easy to make out.
Here a collar badge for a CPO Torpedo Coxwain beside a larger cuff badge for a Mechanician/Chief Stoker.
Not only the outer shape of the badge, also the crown and symbol are smaller.

Regards
Markus

According to Uniforms & Insignia of the Navies of World War II, compiled by US Naval Intelligence, the Royal Navy mechanician qualification was open to both CPOs & POs so the larger arm badge would be for the latter.

Thanks for all the replies.
I do believe that it is for a Mechanician 2nd Class but this document, which is post 1938, says that Mechanicians 2nd Class wore combination badges of Stoker Petty Officer and added star.

If anyone can date this document, it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Barry

My copy of the Manual of Seamanship 1937 shows the Mechanicians badge as a propeller with crown above star below. Chief Stokers & Stoker Petty Officers are shown with crown above only.

Thanks for all the replies.
The document that I posted still shows two separate badges as being worn by PO Mechanicians.
As with many other trades introduced during the war they didn't produce new designs of the badge but used combinations of existing badges. They only made what was not available, usually additional letters.
Maybe they did introduce large size Mechanicians badges late in the war and post the document I posted??
