royal mons royal engineers by firmin
I bought this from ebay but when it arrived yesterday it had obviously been in the wars during delivery, it had be re-bagged with its original packet appearing to have been dragged through the mud and at least stepped on, if not driven over.
the seller gave a full refund and said to keep it, which was very good of them as it was not their fault having sent it in a padded envelope, though perhaps some extra padding might have helped it is a shame as it is by firmin being marked on the slider and twice on the back of the badge

Why get the seller involved ??????? The fault is !00% with the delivery people In my opinion the seller should be paid ,hopefully he/she has been

The seller is responsible for supplying the ordered item. If its not delivered he has a responsibility to replace it or refund the cost to the buyer. He then makes a claim for his loss to the person contracted to deliver.

when I messaged him, I mentioned I did not think it was his fault but he made the refund, I never asked for it.

the shippers were Hermes who until recently always gave a good service but things have gone downhill, most galling they left a parcel in the rain containing some expensive books, luckily the seller had wrapped them in bubble wrap inside the cardboard box which had fallen apart in the rain.

Dave re items sent by post I have a rough idea Having been receiving items for nearly 40 years When in practice some items were thousands of pounds-same rule applies

the crushing of the slider has caused the slider where it meets the badge has caused it to be pushed upwards and it is fractured where it was bent back down, these faults were not present when I bought it

Thanks Jerry, I see that now. Bad damage at that stress point that I wouldnt like to attempt to straighten for sure.

indeed, and only visible on the other side it is cracked all the way through, so no straightening it out.

Bent slider
Jerry,
I would give the slider where the fracture is a coating of a strong adhesive like araldite on both on top and underneath and make sure it sets hard, this will at least reinforce the point of stress. Rob |
