Default RIF odities

Two Royal Irish Fusilier badges.
a) appears to be an old Broderick two-piece badge that has been given the home-made treatment soldering both pieces into one. You can see where the lugs used to be on the coronet.
b) Although missing the coronet the badge looks OK--- until you turn it over and see the slider.

Observations please.

Stephen.

Please explain further why it is not a converted Broderick cap badge.
If not a Broderick, what was it?

Stephen.

Stephen although unusual, the white metal slider shown is found on these RIF badges, I have an example of one in my collection.
Cheers Tony.

Brodrick badges are larger, and with a different flame pattern. These cap badges were adopted later. Not at home so can't post a picture of one. Perhaps another member can help ?
