Default 1st Australian Railway Construction Company

I was doing some sorting and came across this patch. The label said that it was the 1st Australian Railway Construction Company. The South African fishmoths have had a good go at it , but you can still see what it was. Was this WW1 or WW2 ?

World War 2

World War 1 patches didn't have the grey outer edge.
