Default Caernarvon & Denbighshire Yeomanry, OSD.

A rather scarce badge just added to my collection, there could not have been too many officers populating two Batteries during this Regiments dozen or so years in existence?

Andy

Here is similar with "Denbighshire Hussars"...... to be honest I dont like it. These are common on eBay and often don't sell.

Griff,
Just look at the difference in the quality, the thickness and the construction! Yes the badge you show is a common eBay fake, the one I've posted is what they should look like! Do you honestly think I'd post a fake, check your calendar, it's not the 1st of April

Best regards

Andy

Andy....

I dont think I said yours was a fake..... I said I didnt like the DH version that I show.

I am, however, skeptical of that style of POWFs. I think they are Gaunt.... but post 1960, I have the same with pin & clutch for collars (Royal Hussars?)

Helllo Andy,
Very nice indeed, I don't think I've ever handled an example before either, superb thick scroll.
Kind regards Frank

Pretty scarce and as you say nice condition!

Best regards

Very nice, I've only got what I consider to be a modern copy too.

On the plus side, I think mine is a better copy than Gruff's.

Gruff, you need to spend more money on your copies bachgen.

Btw I picked a superb PCC to the DH showing the bi-metal collars & cap badges. I'll scan it in.

Hi Hwyl,
glad you like it! They're probably not Gruff's badges, he just borrows the images off the net! lol

A very nice scarce badge you have there Andy and like others have said first one also for me to see. I can't even find a decent Other Ranks example and I live in the old recruiting area!

Wyndham,
Many thanks, the ORs badges should be anodised, but I'm pretty sure that Bim badges were produced, whether at unit expense and for wear throughout the unit or another victim of 1970s flood of reproductions?

Hello Andy,
Yes, you could be down to just fifty pieces from a single order to their manufacturer, I like that badge you show here though, I'm thinking perhaps less than a bargain?
Kind regards Frank

The only ORs version I have seen in that type is the AA below..... and it was classified as a fake on the forum. To date I have not seen a bi-metal version. I have one image of a WW2 69th (CDY) MR RA Gunner (B K Jones) and he is wearing RA insignia. Major T J Edwards claims that the RA Cap badge was worn up from post WW1 Conversion until 1949. In 1956 became the 372nd (Flint & Denbigh) Regiment (endex 1968)...... so there is a 6 year window of use from 1950-6. The J R GAUNT LONDON marked AA fits this window for the ORs.

Just for reference I show the clutch and pin Royal Hussars S/G collar badge from Gaunt.... (Andy didnt like this when it was first shown?)

I also show the only other Bim I have found and this one is considered less than genuine (10th Hussars)....

Very interesting, sometimes one tends to forget that the only originals are anodised. You have given me the incentive to research this further at a local level. Bound to be some former members of this Unit out there keen to help over a pint at the local RBL club.

Hwyl am y tro
