Hello, I am new here and came across your post re: Operation Jubilee. I think I may be able to help with regards to some of your questions and identification for the Second Canadian Division which regiments formed the brigades 4-6 at Dieppe.

Hi there. I just wanted to let you know that the second picture in your post is actually my father-in-law Colonel John Begg. He participated in the raid on Dieppe and I have his Dieppe medal as well as all of his dress Medals which are beautiful. I believe there are a total of twelve in the leather case. I also have all the newspaper clippings about him during the war as well as a picture of him with King George. I thought you might be interested to know about him.

Hi Cindy, Welcome to the Forum and thanks for the post.
Do you have any of the badges that he wore? Especially relating to Dieppe?

Didn't anybody notice, Capt. Hon. Alistair Buchan? His father was John Buchan, Lord Tweedsmuir, the late Governor General of Canada.

Hi Bill! I have all of his Dress Medals and many of them are engraved with his name on the edges. I have no idea what they all are but they are beautiful. The Dieppe medal is clearly marked "DIEPPE" and is separate from all the dress medals. I would love to know more about these medals. I was married to John Begg's only child, William, and he passed away in 2008. So I have all these medals and newspaper articles from WWII and Dieppe that were written about my father-in-law. I don't know what I will ever do with all of it, but thought they may be of some value to a war museum or similar. Thanks for asking. Cindy Begg

These are Colonel John Begg's medals, although there are a few more I have not included in this picture. I have no idea what they are all for. It is sad that my father-in-law was already deceased when I married his only child William. (Now deceased). Last edited by CindyB; 24-07-12 at 05:53 AM. |

Here are some other things that are from Colonel John Begg's collection. Again, I have no idea what they are. |

Hi Cindy, The link you sent requires an AOL email account. Could you post the images without the email link?
