I will take picturre of the tin they were contained in together with other RIF items and Blue cloth spike and reosette fittings

In his book "Military Badges of the Australian Colonies 1800-1903" Rick Grebert pictures the "Shamrock 8" which he describes as an epaulette badge (in white metal, 39mm high).

Under the 5th (Union Volunteer) NSW Infantry Regiment he shows what appear to be identical pictures to your smaller shamrocks which he describes as collar badges of the Irish Companies of the 5th (Union Volunteer) NSW Infantry Regiment (white metal 31mm high). He also makes the note that the Irish Companies of that regiment became the 8th (Union Volunteer) NSW Infantry Regiment (Irish Rifles) on 1 July 1899. He does not seem to make mention of it but perhaps the collar badges were carried over.
