Default BECCLES FIRE BRIGADE

Can any Forum member help identify what this Fire Brigade related insignia might relate too? Beccles is a small market town in Suffolk. It would seem that this brass curved plate would have been worn around the cuff? They were brought into an antique shop over 30 years ago, and have just seen the light! I have two of them, with different numbers.

Kind regards, Malcolm.

Default FB plates

Could these be possibly "Bedplates" as issued to the Guards as to who was on duty at the time.

Hello Rob.

Thank you for the reply.

Beccles were volunteer fireman I believe, no full time members. Perhaps these plates relate to who went out on a call? Best I can come up with! Whatever, they seem old amd are curved as if to be worn.

Kind regards, Malcolm

This may be the only way to identify a person if they were caught in a fire, I've got an AFS disc with a number on worn on a chain around the neck.

Magpie.

Thank you for the reply. I think that sounds likely. Hopefully I can find a picture with something similar being worn.

Kind regards, Malcolm.

Hello Magpie.

Very interesting picture. The ID theory looks likely.

Kind regards, Malcolm
