Adjutant General's Corps bullion badge for comparison to outline on the beret in question, this one's about 48mm tall, 44mm wide at the scroll.

Looks in better nick than mine.
I only put the measurements down to give an idea against the "ghost" of the missing badge.

the badge traces are c. 48mm wide and 40mm high

Senior officer badges are way too big, sadly....

Paul

From memory when I served with them there were commandos from

Royal Marines
Royal Navy - Medics, Photographers, FAA, Marine Engineers on LC, Signallers with 148 Bty.
Royal Artillery - 29 Regt
Royal Signals - attached to Y Sqn
Royal Engineers - 59 and 131 Cdo Sqn now 23 Regt RE
Army Catering Corps - attached to 29 now RLC Badged
RCT - Commando Log Regt now RLC
RAOC - TA Cdo Petrol Troop now RLC
REME - Commando Helicopter Force and Commando Logs.
Intelligence Corps - HQ 3 Cdo Bde
Parachute Regiment - One officer at BdeHQ wore a Para cap badge on the green lid.

An officer with any of these units could have worn a cloth cap badge on the Cdo green beret. Although 1 Rifles are no longer in 3 Cdo Bde a fair few men passed the AACC and some of these have now gone into the reserve at 6 Rifles

Apart from the RM badge I think the only one I've ever seen worn on the Commando beret "in the flesh" is by a RAOC officer in Strabane, NI, around 1974.
His was a metal, possibly anod al badge, painted green.
If only camera phones and mini digital cameras had been around then instead of Kodak instamatics that kept breaking themselves if you kept them in a pouch or flak jacket pocket........

Heres an unlikely, but have have actually met one. An RAF Officer with commando beret. He didn't want to talk about it much . Used to work in the med centre at mobilization centre Chilwell. Every one usually came through there.

I have a silver on rifle green commando dagger badge that I was given . It was made by the Garrison Tailor in Bulford. There isn't a general issue version of the badge.
