Default ID’ing a Foreign Collar(?) Badge

Hello, among a couple of Italian navy rank badges, I also picked up what I think is a regimental collar tab but I’ve not been able to ID it’s origin. Can anyone please help?

I think it is an unusual shape but think it is French.

The nearest I can find is from Army Badges and Insignia of World War 2, Book 2, by G. Rosignoli.

France.
Corporals' and Privates' Collar Patches.
Metropolitan Troops.
Armoured Cars [W O walking out, F field uniforms].

However, as you can see these are not as long as shown in the photo in the first post being "an average of 9 cm or 8 cm in width and 8 cm in height."

David.

Looks like the shape may have depended on the manufacturer ?

I think they depend on the shape of the collar (point). And thus on the type of jacket/greatcoat, etc.

Thanks all. French was one of my suspicions but as said, the shape threw me off hence the question here.

Thanks again, all.

Hello all!
It is French, but it is a badge of the Armée de l'air (Air force).
The colour suggest the Bataillon de l'air 204.
Bataillons de l'air (before 1940) were administrative units attached to Air force bases.
Bataillon de l'air 204 was attached to El Aouina base, near Tunis.

Hope this can help.

Just to show what the badge would like on an actual airman of the 30's.
Open collar + this kind of badge does not look very smart ...
