Help to identify regimental badge
Hello
I wonder if you could help identify my grandads regiment from a photo of him in his uniform? He was in WW2 as an engineer in the army I recall. He lived in SE London, but I remember that the regiment was not a local one. He was in Northern Ireland for a while during WW2 and then later went over to France a few days after DDday and then perhaps to Belgium. Thank you so much for any info. Best wishes Amanda

The shoulder title appears to be RASC.

Uniform is Service Dress and photo is probably taken late 1930s to very early World War 2. You say he was an engineer? It is possible he was an RASC fitter or vehicle mechanic and would have been transferred into the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) in 1942 or later?

That looks like a George 5th cypher on the badge so probably pre-1936. The very first George 6th pattern RASC cap badges had an incorrect cypher which was basically the George 5th style GR letters with the V changed to VI so it could possibly be one of those.
