London Scottish - Shoulder Titles
Not being my area, I was wondering if someone could throw some light on these two types of shoulder title, please.
Did one pattern pre or post-date the other, or is there some other reason for the two types? With thanks, Peter. 14th ST.JPG Apologies for the DIY images, but I don't have any STs of my own to post [sob... sniff] Last edited by Peter J; 22-05-11 at 03:35 PM. |

I am not an expert on s/ts but the 14th Bn London Regt was only in existence until 1937. After that the title changed to the London Scottish. There would have been a change in titles then.

Westlake "Collecting Metal Shoulder Titles " is not too helpful, London/Scottish ( 1528 ) apparently introduced in 1915 so presumably worn at the same time as the other title.
Article in the SAHR journal- "Badges of the London Regiment 1908-1937" says the date the title London/Scottish title was introduced was 1917 P.B.

The Uniform of the London Scottish 1859-1959- J O Robson page 46-
say the T/14/Cof L ST was repaced by T/14/London ST at the start of the war and was much more easy to read. In 1915, when 1st Bn was in 1st Guards Brigade, The ST London Scottish was adopted. Book published 1960. Regards, Paul. |
