Hi Guys, new here so don't beat me up if this is in wrong place! Attached pic is my great uncle Harry, WW2. Not the best of pics but anyone got a clue as to the regiment or corps here?

Neil

He is WW2 Royal Artillery.- no Tony is right he is RAMC with a shiny chinstrap!
His rank is Corporal and is wearing early war uniform of a design worn circa 1940.

Royal Army Medical Corps.....I think the look of a RA cap badge is caused by light reflecting off chin strap!
Tony.

I'm not certain that it is Royal Artillery, I think what you are seeing as the bottom scroll is actually a reflection from the polished chinstrap. I think it looks more like Royal Signals to me....

I hadn’t seen your reply (started typing and made a cuppa). I was suggesting the same as you.

Great minds think alike!

But we have a book on fluid dynamics in which he has written

Cpl H M Smith Hydrographic section.

Hydrography is mapping of seas etc.

SO not sure it would be medical?

Thing is it does look like a RAMC badge. But why would he have a book on fluid dynamics and put his name and rank in it unless it was associated to his military role? Even to put hydrographic section.
I need to spring his records i think.
