This has been one of the most enjoyable threads. I have found it very interesting to hear about some of your collections.

Have just checked my ‘badge tracker’ it would appear I’ve added at least 1,091 badges to my collection since Jan 2021. Goodness.
And sadly still all in tins. |

I reading some of the updates here I now understand why I am not able to find those gems I keep looking for!!!
Although my collection is NOOOOOO where near any of what you all have, my wife has long thought don't you already "A" badge, why would you want another one!!!! Would have been funny... But she was serious!!! A friend who came to visit with his wife made a special point of showing them my study... and they were heard to reply - "Don't even think about it"!!!! But he now has a great start on an equally respective gentleman's study (the kids have moved out and on)! Gentlemen, I tip my hat to all of you!!! I started collecting all things to do with British Army when I was 8 years old in 1975, I stopped counting 30 years ago when the collecting became hoarding.....the illness continues.....new collectors beware!

Jeez, I'm well down - on around 400. That said, I also collect other militaria including munitions, bayonets, uniform items, post-cards and other ephemera... so my little man cave is pretty chock-a-block!

Gerard, hi - yes it is (blimey, you've got better lamps than me!)
If you look above it you'll see a picture of my Grandad who fought with the Hertfordshire Regt (amongst others) - he wears a Lewis Gunner arm badge and a wound badge too. Despite being discharged in 1918 due to gas poisoning, he managed to live a further 60 years on a diet of Woodbines and whiskey, bless 'im!! |

Gary, I too enjoyed seeing a picture of part of your study. Would you consider sharing more, maybe in a separate thread?

Gerard - hi
No, actually he came from Herefordshire (a tiny village called Kingsland) - he also served with the Herefords and the ASC. He was a wonderful bloke, my best friend in my early years... He had me on Woodbines before I was 10, bless him! |
