Default Is this a fake ?

I am always a little wary of British badges because of the extensive faking that has taken place over the years ( sorry, maybe that should read, " the production of museum quality replicas !) Fortunately the quality of these newly minted items is often poor and they give themselves away. However sometimes one finds an example that could be ok but there is a nagging doubt. I have just one such item. The front of the badge looks great ( as they usually do) and the slider looks ok ( no attempt to to add a well known maker name ). It is solidly made , but ......
I wonder if a cavalry badge expert can give an opinion ?
