Does anyone have any idea what the maroon and light blue colours of this military type drum might represent ? Thank you.

Hello RAD,
My evaluation would be The Parachute Regiment of the British Army without blaze. Both the colours plus the undulating maroon stripes on both the light blue rims, are correct for the PARAS. Unfortunately because it is a view from the side of the drum and not the blaze, but at least the tips of the battle honours should be discernible if present.

RAD,
As far as I know the drum is correctly painted. at least consistent with all those painted by Potters of Aldershot I've seen, but without the blaze. The blaze normally being centered on that portion of the drum painted maroon.

Very similar drum seems to be for sale on http://www.chairbornemilitaria.co.uk/shop.php . Very similar hardwood floor too it appears... ?

Simon Butterworth ... I am rather shocked . I actually thought when I opened this reply that I was going to receive ( as I have done for many years here ) some useful companionable help . However I really think your aggressive attitude is misplaced in what I took to be a friendly and helpful forum. I certainly dont have to explain myself to you . If I choose to ask a question about an image that I see on the internet it should not require me to give you my full details , many collectors in this group buy from the internet and may desire second opinions beforehand. Many collectors in this group choose to remain anonymous on account that they possess valuable collections . To answer part of your question , the only part that is justified , I imagine the drum is on a website in order to be offered for sale !

It was on the website when I first saw it , and could you explain precisely what you mean by your comment ? A simple apology would suffice.

The photos you show are not the same (angles etc) as what was and is still on the website. I gather you have been in touch with the seller for further pictures??
I have an opinion on the drum but to be honest if you have to hide behind a pseudonym and I don’t know you why should I give it.

I was sent further pics that is correct . But lots of people use pseudonyms on this forum ... and like me for very good reason . There have been many incidences of burglaries which have resulted from thieves joining forums in order to target collections and the easiest starting point is the collector's name . I have no intention of becoming a victim. As you can see I have been a member for many years and have contributed frequently. I was merely asking advice in the spirit of this forum , but did not expect the Spanish Inquisition !

I don’t think you can blame people for coming to their own conclusions particularly with this particular seller. If you had said in your original post or subsequent replies of its origin or even your intention to consider buying it I doubt the inquisition would have started.
I wouldn’t recommend this seller even before his forum ban.
The drum if it has not been overpainted and is original I would say is a practice drum.

Like Paul says, and here is my conclusion.

Jack Dutton Roberts is banned and has lost his user rights to ask questions on here.

so, he needs another way to ask questions about things he wants to sell on ebay or his website and that way is to use another members account ie YOURS.

Why you? Probably because you are his friend, relative, or even his father perhaps?

In fact you may even be Jack Dutton Roberts himself!!!
