Default Colour patch identification

Need help in identifying this colour patch thanks. Doing research for a friend his uncle was in the British army in ww1 and was a captain in the artillery in ww2 in the australuan army

Hello,

The colour patch is 31st Aust Garrison Battalion, worn as a diamond with the point of the inset green patch to the top. This was an internal security battalion in New South Wales off the top of my head.

Have you got the bloke's name, I'll check my Army Lists.
