Default Royal tank Reg't

Hello Chaps, Could some knowledgeable member please let me know if the post 1924 pattern of the badge at caption was issued with a slider. The examples I have seen posted on the Forum all appear to be lugged?
Any input much appreciated.
Cheers!
Len.

The buttons mark is generally found on late 40s and early 50s badges. The firm is much older than that but like lost amkers did not amrk its badges before that period.

Allan, appreciate your input. Could one assume, that in general, an unmarked slider for the badge in question would indicate WWII or earlier manufacture?
Cheers!
Len.

I don't think that you can be that definitie. The Buttons badge is probably late 40s1950s but exactly when the badges started to be made with sliders is not clear.

Hi Len, the slider was introduced post WW2 and when the amount of replacement badges, due to the crown breaking, became apparent, common sense prevailed and they went back to lugs. Previously when the 1924 badge was reslidered, the slider was attached to the tank to prevent the problem they had had with the brass model where the crown was prone to breaking off due to the slider being attached to it. History has a habit off repeating itself, Mike

Hi Mike, cheers for that. Makes sense that the badge would be prone to breakeage with the slider attached behind the crown. Also no doubt accounts for Andy's observation that badges fitted with a slider are less common.
Thanks again to all for the input.
Len.
