Unknown Officer? Scottish Unit??
Hi All, is there anyone who may be able to give some guidance on the photo below please. Would he be an officer and what unit may he be from? Is it possible to get a rough date of when this may have been taken?
The photo is apparently of a J Dudgeon who received a BSACo medal, QSA and a DCM. If the photo is of an officer I suspect the medal may be his DCM but they what is he not wearing his BSACo Medal or QSA, though would the QSA have been issued by 1902 when he got his DCM? I suppose it could be on the day he was to receive his DCM and perhaps the medal is his BSACo but it does not seem to show his 1897 clasp? When were QSA's actually issued? Both the waist belt clasp and the shoulder belt plat have the number 48 on, so that should be a clue to the unit.
Marc Possibly the 48th Highlanders of Canada.
