Default Souvenir Waistbelt; A nice variation...

This afternoon I was lucky enough to pick up this waistbelt studded with cap badges. I have a few others, mostly Great War, but what made this one so appealing is that 14 of the 17 badges are WW2 plastic.

Some have been damaged through wear but it's a nice, unusual souvenir belt (no idea why these get called "hate belts" as the majority always seem to be badges swapped with mates or soldiers from other units).

From the left: Welsh Guards (GM), Army Catering Corps, Intelligence Corps, Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, West Yorks (broken), Pioneer Corps, Army Educational Corps (GM), another Pioneer Corps, South Wales Borderers, Royal Artillery GS Cap Badge, Inniskilling Fusiliers, Suffolk Regiment, Welch Regiment, Royal Army Medical Corps, Royal Tank Regiment, Middlesex Regiment and Royal Artillery (GM).

this has got to be the most unusual badge belt I have seen with all the plastic badges on it. very good pickup IMHO.

Some rare ones too, Intelligence Corps, RA gun. Army Educational corps doesn't look plastic, but when it is it is one of the rarest with only 900 made.

Rgds, Thomas.

Hi Thomas,
The RA Gun, Educational Corps and Welsh Guards are all metal. The rest are plastic.
Cheers,

Default Hate belts

Taff, I think these are called "Hate Belts" by jealous people who do not own them . . !

A great find in this day and age, very well done.
