Default Royal Hampshire Regiment Slip-on titles Malaya

Whilst serving in Malaya from 1954 to 1956 the regiment adopted a series of titles as shown. The colours indicate the Company etc in which the soldier served.

Major John Waring's Identification pamphlet 12 identifies White as HQ Coy, Bright green – A Coy, Red – B Coy, Yellow – Y Coy, Blue – Z Coy.

Did the regiment at the time have A, B, Y and Z Coys and who wore the versions of the title edged in brown and blue/green?

I recall a recently published book on the badges of Hampshire regiments which may provide an answer. Does anyone have its details?

All help appreciated.

Jon

One of the contributors (possibly co author) was Rod Flood (Minden Militaria)
The main author was Terence Woods - Military Insignia of Hampshire and The Isle of Wight - 2 volumes

Page 94 vol2 - states

Jon,
It doesn't answer your question but I recall seeing slip-ons in the same style being worn in Nee Soon Barracks, Singapore in 1964. I would guess that 1 Royal Hampshires were en route to Sarawak and "Konfrontasi"

Mike,

Many thanks.

Your later sighting might explain why there are two distinct versions of the title with different type faces, one much neater than the other.
