Men of the Royal West Kent Regiment receive their pay from an officer in a shell hole near Mouquet Farm, October 1916. The men have a triangle formation flash painted on their helmets.

Field Marshal Douglas Haig, the C-in-C of the British Army, inspecting the Guard of Honour of C Company, 6th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders in preparation for the visit of Marshal Ferdinand Foch, the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, to the British Advanced GHQ at Iwuy, 15 November 1918.
Notice the three stripes on the shoulder of the Captain on the right....

King George V inspecting the 51st Battalion, Machine Gun Corps, attached to the 51st Highland Division at Bouquemaison, north of Doullens. This Battalion had lost 20 officers and 300 other ranks. Sergeant Corbett (presumably pictured) had greatly distinguished himself.
Notice the MG cap badge worn on the TOS and the shoulder badge worn by Sgt.Corbett.
