lacquer on badges
What is the best method to get lacquer of badges with no damaged to badge ??

Imerse the badge in hot water and leave for a period of time. You will find that the coating will begin to flake away. After each immersion scrub with a tootbrush or similar, and repeat. Another method is to hold the badge with a pair of long nosed pliers and use the steam from a boiling kettle to shift the coating. Take particular care if there is any enamelling on the badge as heat may cause it to crack or otherwise dislodged.
I woiuld not recommend the use of any abrasive chemical agent. Dave. |

I’ve used “Tinto’s suggestion as well as nail polish remover. No harm done in either case but DO wash in hot soapy water afterwards. Regards, D.J.
