Default Div ? Sign on tan WW2 British Helmet

Not sure if this is the right section to post this, however would much appreciate comment and hopefully an answer regarding this sign on the side of an early WW2 British Helmet. An inverted black triangle on a tan triangle, what does it represent? Regards, Clive.

Thanks for that Philip, you may be right. I have checked all my references and have not been able to find exactly what it is. Regards, Clive.

Many thanks for your comments, it is possible that the red color has faded, but if that were the case would the black not have done so as well? Regards, Clive.

Had a much closer look at the Helmet this morning and found a date for 1943, so definitely not a BEF survivor. Still unsure what to make of the helmet, all seemed good and all I wanted to find out was the meaning of the sign on the side. Regards, Clive.

PS: Sorry Staffsyeoman that you got fed up.

Clive, my impression is 3rd infantry division. Either faded or applied in the nearest available colour to to wartime shortages.

Thank you for your comments Luc. This Helmet has had quite a slamming both here and on the WA Forum as well, so good to hear something positive. Regards, Clive.

Didn't 3rd Div serve postwar in the Middle East? Possibly from then?
