researching a WW2 seaman
I have a few mementoes to George John Foster but unfortunately know very little as to his service. I believe he was a submariner, based at Malta and died when his sub was sunk. He was awarded 3 medals as indicated on the accompanying medal slip.
Any further information gratefully appreciated GTB |

Thanks, leigh kitchen,
Indeed it is him. His medals box is addressed to his wife Doris (as next-of-kin) at Gzira Malta. I didn't know he was MID. GTB |

He was possibly involved (along with the rest of the crew) in "Victoria Cross actions" too.

His casualty scroll. Apparently the personal details were in red ink and I wonder if this also denotes a death?
