Hello Irv, picture quality not great but I’d say 4 of the Royal Artillery cap badges are what’s know as the tall orb copies .

I disagree that the memorial plaqued are copies. The copies are not of the quality of originals and they are difficult to reproduce effectively. If others know better please educate me.
They may have been mounted in frames at some point Mark Quote:

Hi Gerard,
If you number them left to right and then down which do you think are fake. I can do close ups if you let me know which you want a closer look at. Any opinion on the other non artillery badges? |

I’ve been speaking to my friend and it turns out these are family members.
Charles Winch (probably Royal Sussex Regiment as he lived in Kent) stepped on a land mine. And Francis Warne died at Ypres, his cap badges are here somewhere. He says he also had the telegram and a few other items relating to him. He also tells me there are some glider regiment cloth patches with this lot that belonged to his grand dad. He flew into Holland. I have found a blue one but he says there are red ones? Quote:

The following are fake.
1,2,3,4,5,7,9,10, 11 & 12. 6 looks OK 8 I have no idea. I am of the opinion that the whole collection was probably bought without any knowledge of British badges, trusting in sellers and all will be the same as this. 95% out and out fakes with a smattering of very common originals. best wishes

All these badges were owned by I nice old man who has sadly died. His son is trying to do the right thing and make sure they either get binned or sold on to us the collector.
Please stick with me to help If you need a more detailed picture before giving a thumbs up or thumbs down please let me know. Number 9 I think is good, for what it’s worth. Just need a more experienced eye to look at it. Regards Irv Last edited by Irv; 15-02-24 at 01:11 AM. Reason: Additional info |
