HELP - Need to identify a British Military Tag

Dear friends,

Hope you are doing well.

I live in Mauritius and have found this very particular tag on the sea shore right in front the place where the Battle of Grand-Port took place in 1810 - between the French and British. The island was ruled by the French at that time but became British a month after the battle.

The broad arrow of the badge makes it easy to identify the clan. However, i have got no clue about its use.
