hi all
anyone have any information of what this hat is and what is the badge?

The type of headdress is a Torrin (torrin?) cap.

I know I'm stating the bleedin' obvious but the monogram design and the rifle green badge backing suggest Highland Light Infantry.

i will try and get some extra pics.
looks to be a bullion badge but i believe its attached by lugs?
what period do you think? is that a victorian style crown?

The HLI monogram, yes - but that's the cap/bonnet badge of the Royal Highland Fusiliers.
