843 green square red felt diagonal car pennant
Any help identifying the depicted car / vehicle pennant please. It is six inches square and has its own leather sheaf. Bolts for securing to a vehicle or the like. Ashantee

843 in white was a unit serial number allocated c 1944/45 to a staff branch of HQ 21st Army Group - the numeral displayed on a black square with a diagonal white bar running from top left to bottom right. So far so good, but the colour combination on the pennant doesn't conform to any British Army vehicle markings of the period. so it could have been a semi-official sign for a unit eg 843 Coy RASC which may have had some unit association with the colours of the pennant. Very many RASC semi official unit signs of the period have never been recorded, let alone identified. An example shown. Mike
