Default Chindit research help needed

Hi Guys,
I was given this group of items a few years ago and wanted to know if there is any research that can be done to find out abit more info on this soldier, and if all these items belong together as given.
Any help would be great fully received.
Regards
Irv

You have what appears to be an odd mixture of badges but it all makes sense.

The service number 3970367 confirms that Frederick Charles Ing first enlisted into the Welch Regiment before transferring to the Leicestershire Regiment.

The 36th Division formation sign suggests that he served with the 2nd battalion Leicestershire Regiment who served with the 36th Division from 20th May 1945 until 31st August 1945. This was after the Chindits were disbanded.

The 2nd battalion Leicestershire Regiment served with 16th Infantry Brigade under Bernard Fergusson during Operation Thursday, and formed columns 17 and 71. The 16th Infantry Brigade had the unique distinction of being the only Brigade that marched in to Burma during the 2nd Chindit expedition, everyone else being flown in either by glider or Dakota. They were expected to capture the town of Indaw but were unable to do so because of the lack of heavy weapons and overwhelming Japanese numbers.

I have checked the casualty lists and Frederick Charles Ing does not appear.

I would recommend that you get a copy of Bernard Fergusson's The Wild Green Earth which covers 16th Brigade's part in Operation Thursday.

The two medal ribbons are American, the European, African and Middle Eastern campaign medal and the army good conduct medal.

Thanks so much for the info.
The group was given to my uncle (podge) by the guys wife. I think both my uncle and this man had been in the Burma association. I know all the items are from this guys service. Nice to put all the evidence together. Also to have a couple of real chindit patches that I can put an owners name to.
