Warrant Officers, Staff Sergeants and Sergeants, 1st Battalion (72nd C.E.F.) The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. Originated 24 November 1910 in Vancouver, British Columbia as the 72nd Highlanders of Canada Redesignated 15 April 1912 as the 72nd Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Redesignated 16 December 1912 as the 72nd Regiment "Seaforth Highlanders of Canada" Redesignated 12 March 1920 as The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Notice that some members are still wearing the 72nd cap badge and, that some are wearing the 'new' Seaforth cap badge.

Belt?

Yet another great photo with lots of detail. Thank you for that. I was looking at the fellow in the back row #5 from the left and wondering about the belt he was wearing. It is clearly not the "08" pattern, nor is it one of the darker leather belts. It almost has more in common with the "37" pattern web belt, but clearly not that. Was there an interim web style belt issued or tested? in any event it is a real pleasure to look at these photos, the more you look the more you see. Don |

1913 Belt

Thank you for that. I have never seen the 1913 pattern belt. It is an interesting piece and I think I now see where the inspiration for the 1937 pattern came from. I thought that the Mills belt had all of the holes in it to accommodate the wire attaching fixtures of that system. Really appreciate the introduction to that reference site. Don |
