The Sphinx
Greetings. Has there ever been a study made of how the Sphinx emblem evolved, as worn by regiments in its various forms since it's inception in 1801?
I have read the article by W.Y. Carman in JSAHR Autumn 2001, 'A Badge for Egypt' which concentrated on the most early forms, but I was wondering what there might be apart from that. Many thanks |

An issue of "Crown Imperial" (from the 1980's?) Contained an article on the various sphinxes, male, female, tail up, tail down etc, as worn by various regiments.
I actually glimpsed the magazine a few days ago whilst lugging stuff around - it'll take a while to find it now, but I'll go search. |

Many thanks. Leigh. The British Library appears to have numbers of Crown Imperial dating from 1903.
