More of a cypress green than the colour of mine?
I have another UAE beret, by a UK manufacturer, I'll dig it out.

It came in a lot of three berets, UK RM Commandos and SAS were the other two, all c.late 1970's/80's.

certainly for UK berets, 70's/80's had the ribbed fabric edging, not sure about "foreign" berets but they often all follow the UK's lead on such items.

The fabric band possibly being a 70's - 80's feature had occurred to me, but as you say, does that apply to "foreign" berets.?

Leigh, I have just had a reply back from a friend who works in Abu Dhabi and he says the following: . In general all of Land Forces wear the green beret except for those that don’t. For example, recruits, women and most men in land forces, plus others such as the Chief of Staff of UAE Armed Forces all wear green.

Thank you, so the green beret is the norm, with some units wearing different colours.
