I am always looking early (pre 1939) British ribbon bars with foreign awards; interesting devices or just different construction solutions. Also I am seeking Royal Dublin Fusiliers items. I can help in small scale to research RDF soldiers (MICs, medal rolls, additional information, etc). |

Thanks Simon - short and sweet

If in doubt, just search ebay.
If you find more than one then they are usually all fakes. Very common pre 1881 fake. regards

Even glengarry badges with clear and convincing aging (especially Fusilier regiments for some reason) are often re-strikes because the original dies were purchased by a turn of the century entrepreneur, Mr ‘Fox’, who saw an opportunity to make a small fortune from souvenirs and an affection for the old numbered regiments. Nowadays many are reproduced in the old insignia/jewellery quarters of places like Sialkot, in Pakistan and similar communities in India. Watch out for even cruder versions fitted to bugles!
