B.G.H. in Red Cross enamel badge
OK, in a perfect world this is going to stand for Brigade General Hospital but I'm thinking perhaps it civilian. Any ideas boys? It's 21mm wide with no back marks and a brooch fastener.

Hi,
I agree with General Hospital but not sure about the 'B'. It looks possibly like an American civilian nursing badge. What does the pin look like? as that may give a clearer picture of its origin. Steve |

Bog standard brooch pin.

Bog standard on American badges but not on UK or commonwealth badges. It has one of those safety catches for the pin. I will stick with an American hospital nurses badge.

Those brooch fasteners are likely the most common fastener in Canada outside of the military so as this was found in Canada, I would put my money on it being Canadian. The odd military item has them too for example some very old Royal Military College "year collar bars" I have in brass.

Is that the little "spinning wheel" type fastener? - looks similar to the fittings on Italian made insignia too, eg gilt and white enamel UN beret badges.

Yup, it's got the 'rotate to lock' device on the pin cradle. Like I say, super common over here.
