Default R.N.D Nelson Cap Badge

Hi
I'd appreciate some ideas on the R.N.D Nelson Badge below. It was included in a large collection of badges that I've recently acquired. The collection consisted of Many copies but also many originals as well.
I've tried to research this one, but as it's one that has been well copied I just don't know.
I'm assuming it's a copy from the start but I'd just like some thoughts and pointers as to what makes it a copy
Any help gratefully appreciated
Robbo

I believe that it is an old copy and the slider is the obvious reason. The ship's figurehead is awful as well.

Default Nelson Btn

Most Nelson Btn badges have serif letters with a stylised "N".

Hello Robbo,
May I suggest that you visit the following article; http://arnhemjim.blogspot.com/2011/0...badges_28.html. Hopefully the information will be both interesting and beneficial.

Thanks for the lead to your website Jim, very interesting and lots of knowledge to be had, the badge in question has sans serif letters and not serif letters like the originals also a slider when originals had loops.

Although Gaunt made the original badges, I am convinced that there was another maker as I have had badges with flat loops on them without a makers name.
