Shipping to US
All,
I have not ordered anything from the UK for four months now and am concerned, being that I don't know what the current situation is; therefore reluctant to purchase anything. I have heard horror stories of items taking a month or more to reach the US, and vice versa. There is supposed to be a change coming with regard to USPS international post, which I do not fully understand. Have any members of this forum some recent experience in this regard? Thanks, CB

Mail to/from US and UK has been massively delayed due to Covid-19 (lack of flights and social distancing requirements). It's been nearly 3 months and I'm still awaiting a package from the UK. Mick

Shipments to Canada
CB,
I have ordered some items from UK in the last couple of months. Both packages took about one month to get here. I figured this going in. The norm is about 2-3 weeks. I assume that the Royal Mail is delayed due to Covid restrictions placed on their staff; plus, at the Canadian end, the same for clearing through Cdn Customs before being forwarded over to Canada Post for delivery. Both items arrived in good order, with everything present that I had bought. I have not ordered any thing from the US as I had heard a rumour that USPS had taken a s**t kicking because of the pandemic, and were next to useless for delivering packages outside of the country. Any truth to this rumour? Ian

Just an observation but the number of flights used to convey international packages has been reduced by 95% but mail order purchases have increased by at least 40%. Result being things take longer to get on a flight even before delays due to social isolating and covid-19 precautions. Internal mail is taking twice as long to get delivered so international mail would take even longer as it is subject to available flights!!! Keep smiling, soon be christmas!!!!!

I've been getting packages from the UK in about 2 weeks since April, so for me it has been near normal. That's both ways - UK to US, or US to UK. So, I don't hesitate to order from the UK.

Like Slick Mick Ive had parcels from UK to Australia during the Covid period, these have taken from 4 to 8 weeks where as I normally get mail from UK in 10 to 14 days. However mail from Mick in Sydney has got to Melbourne in 3 to 5 days.

I cannot comment on the USA but I brought items from Australia on the 15th May and they are "On the Way" (I hope)

Thanks all,
I am getting accounts of differing experiences, mostly not too bad, but some not too good either. Some purchases I have made from the UK in the past have been expensive for my limited funds, and I dread the idea of having a such an item somewhere in limbo. CB

Yes, bit over two months from UK, anything from within Australia, slightly better, but not much.

I sent a package to a friend in Canada, and it took 3 months. However, due to the virus it was held up in New York for 2.5 months before it got worked. Once it got to Canada there was again a delay as the Canadian PO told me they had a huge backup.
I would be upset, but I really do understand the concern with the virus. If you get it and recover, you still have the bills for your recovery to deal with - a subject the news here is not even mentioning! Terry |
