Default Trade badge REME

Just a quick question too the knowledgable members out there, my brother inlaw is putting together a small framed collection of items in reference of his father who served in the REME, he was in National Service time around 1950/51, I have given him one of my spare cap badges that would of been worn then,he's asked if his father would have worn a specific trade badge as he was an electrician during that period, so I said I'd ask, any information appreciated

ACI 164/1950 gives the badge of an electrician (all types) as the letter A in a wreath. The exception was Electricians (RA) who wore the hammer and pincers badge.

It depends on what grade electrician he was , in my time 1958-73 as a third class tradesman you wore no trade insignia and also once you reached the rank of sergeant you no longer wore a trade badge.

Thanks for that info, I'll find out, I think he remained a private, and as to grade a bit of searching for that one
