Default South Irish Horse Good or Bad.

Another couple I'd like the forums option on.

One on the left is the common fake. The one on the right has the vein pattern attributed as genuine, however it looks very strange on the back, almost cast in places yet die stamped in others? The slider and braze look a bit odd too. Could you post a closer up photo please?

The cast/die struck might be because its a "lost wax" copy.

I was wondering that too.

The slider is significantly shorter than those found on original badges. It could of course have been replaced professionally at some point or possibly shortened.

Currently it’s not sitting right with me, but, let’s see what the pics tomorrow show.

Sorry but to my eyes that picture isn’t really much better than the first, still can’t see it properly - slightly out of focus and low resolution.

Obviously you find as many cast SIH badges as die stamped ones. But IMO for what it’s worth, and I’m no expert, I think this one is likely cast from a die stamped original badge from what I can see.

Just my opinion others may disagree.
