Identify epaulet
Hello all,
Any help appreciated to identify rank (I think I detect stripes) and unit from epaulets of this South African soldier, taken in Port Elizabeth 1946. Also what would be the reason for him still to be in uniform in 1946? Thanks, Tony B |

A corporal in the 6th South African Armoured Division.
Not yet demobbed. He had to get back from Italy, and there were shipping shortages, as well as the "Jugs" to take in to account. "By 25 January 1946, 101,676 men had been ferried back to South Africa[73] and the last aircraft left Egypt on 26 February 1946, carrying Major General Evered Poole who arrived in Durban on 2 March 1946" http://military.wikia.com/wiki/6th_A..._(South_Africa)
