Silks
Last year I was lucky to buy a R Berks Edwardian silk in near mint condition.I bought it via ebay I think I paid around £120.00 for it I was more than happy to pay this. The Queens Royal west surrey is also in very good condition but has been mounted so it is slightly faded.R Mun/R Berks show how sadly they can go down hill.
I think they were produced in India using part machine & hand work. They date from the Edwardian period up into the 1920s.I have a Wilts example somewhere with 1st WW honours on it. About five years ago I bid on one on ebay,Did not get it,That was in a steel tube mailed out to the UK from India in mint condition.Perhaps they advertised in a military publication & sent out mail order. |

Hi Monty,
Very well done indeed, a stunning item and in wonderful condition. Here is a photo of my KSLI example, not quite so good condition but stunning workmanship. I plan to frame this one up for my study. Cheers, Roy.
