Several years ago, I had a similar email sent via (apparently) the eBay system. I seem to recall that the item number did not exist. I simply deleted it and took no further action.

As they did not use the £ symbol I would assume they live in a country that does not have that on the keyboard.

Certainly sounds like a scam.

To get a £ sign, Alt 156 works for me.
Cheers, Tinto

Windows

All programs

Windows Accessories

System Tools

Character Map

Right click on Character Map and you can pin it to the Start Menu. That way it's always there when you need it.

Default Spoofs

All ebay scams or phishing attempts should be forwarded, without adding to or changing the email in any way, to:

spoof@ebay.co.uk or spoof@ebay.com

Same for Paypal spoofs:

spoof@paypal.co.uk or spoof@paypal.com

Best rgds to all

William

Default E-Bay Sellers BEWARE

EBay Buyers beware too! Several years ago I put a "saved search" on EBay where if an item came up that I was looking for, ebay would notify me! I received a notification and clicked on the link to the item and, well to cut a long story short I ended up buying a new computer as the virus the link contained, totally knackered my original one!

So whatever you do DONT CLICK ON THE LINK.

Regards

Tony

On the subject of scams I just thought I'd add this one which is doing the rounds, nearly got me this time! Applies to anyone with a bt yahoo email account. Asking for you to upgrade as the classic version is closing - provides a link to ...what will be a scam website which will hijack your email account.

The senders email address has nothing to do with bt or yahoo and looks like some individual Joe.

Alt 0163 works for me, and Alt 156 does as well - Must be your U.S. keyboard or version of Windows!

and yes 'Character Map' is also a great asset
