It looks like the 1970's black plastic badge, made for Op Banner tours in Northern Ireland. There are various fixing versions on the rear.
Not sure why this example has holes in it, and it appears to have been glued onto something. Bess |

Yes NI issue. There were 3 versions - same plastic but with 3 different style of fittings.

There are 4 different ones. Discussed previously.https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...plastic&page=2
Definately not the one with the screw fitting. As Tim says could be the brass fitting version or the aluminium strip version . Last edited by Mike H; 17-12-22 at 05:06 PM. |

Thanks chaps having read the linked thread and the problems with fixings looks to me as the owner drilled it and stitched it to his beret

Id have to agree Neil. Ive spoken to a few ex LI guys ref the black plastic version.Glued on aluminium slider. The feedback i got was the badge was crap, more ended up broken in the gutter than on berets.

My guess is that the original glued on fitting became detached, attempts to glue on some kind of fitting failed and holes were drilled through to facilitate sewing the badge to a beret.
