I still stand by that addition of a bit of table salt but it can also turn brass badges a slight coppery shade if left in too long although this isn't permanent. Other option is dish washing liquid and a very soft brass brush found in any jewellery supply outlet.

I am surprised nobody has commented on what looks like a small hole in the coronet, is there a hole and if so I wonder how it got there?
Often described as a beret badge this changed from the larger type to this size in the 1930's before berets were worn by line Regiments. Rob |

I think that 'hole' is just a stain on the metal.

Agree, it’s a tiny spot of green verdigris with dark discolouration around it.
