Default Aussie Prison Help Required

Can anyone please confirm that this is a South Australia Prison badge?

I am assuming that GPD is : Government Prison Department

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Destro

Hi Steve,
It's definitely a genuine badge and I have one in collection. I will check records and see if I can find any more info.

Many thanks Bantam, my gut feeling was that it is correct but I am struggling to find any reference to it.

Hi Destro,
Sorry to inform you unable to find any photos and the only info was only the same that was already known. It would appear that the remoteness of the State played a part in the prisons history. The main prison in Adelaide was opened in 1841 and closed in 1988.
Sorry I couldn't find any photos.
