Default Tyneside Irish-Ant and Dec-DNA program

Ant's Great Grandfather served with the Tyneside Irish. At the Tynside Irish club he is presented with a Tyneside Irish 'cap badge' with slider. Shame. Regards, Paul. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FslKM7bK-c
At about 13 minutes in.

The bit about Grandad sounds interesting, pity the programmes ruined by having his grandson and his muckergee in it.

Cool Tyneside Irish 'cap badge'

Can you wonder that fakes are bought by unknowing members of the public, especially when high profile people appear on TV documentaries being presented with them.

Fake badge or not, it was a nice gesture.
And the programme has done some good, I've got my two teenage girls interested in both their great great Grandfather's WW1 history, so their memory will live on in their generation.
You may not like Any and Dec, but the youngsters really do, they should do more programmes like that, with pressent day pop stars and presenters etc, so my daughter's generation can relate to it, instead of their boring Dad trying to get through to them!

So long as they still make interesting programmes for the boring oldies, it'd help break up the continual run of adverts for funeral plans and home equity loans.

There's always the possibility it could be a genuine Tyneside Irish shoulder title that a Great War veteran had altered to a slider fitting so as he could wear it in his buttonhole. It would have saved him from having to make holes in his Sunday Best suit. They're canny folk in the North-East.

I think there are also canny folk in Birmingham and other places of manufacturing industry.

I enjoyed the programs and I don't mind watching programs with Ant and Dec. As mentioned anything that sparks an interest in history and Remembrance is for the good.
There must have been a good sum spent on the 2 programs so an original badge could have been obtained and if it was a gesture originating from the Tyneside Irish club I would have thought someone might have known a bit about the badges of the Tyneside Irish. A picture of an original badge would have had more meaning than a fake badge. Regards, Paul.
