Bomb Disposal OCA enamel badge
I picked this nice little RE BD Old Comrades Association enamel badge up the other day.
1" tall, enamel with a lapel fitting to the rear, does anybody know anything about it? There seems to be nothing online or in RE books about it, though I do remember one sometimes rarely popped up on ebay a few years back, though not sure they were the same design or wording. No makers mark, is it a first pattern post-WW2 badge? It has that look. |

Hi
I sometimes dabble in collecting OCAs and would agree that it is a nice wee item. That fitting seems to either turn up on European (especially French or Italian ones ) or on late 1940s-50s lapel badges. I've got it on some of my later OCAs. |

I've been told by someone who restores old car badges that this colour is a proper b##ger to get right and can easily be overheated. It never really works on silver and usually ends up a queer reddish brown. Amazing what you can learn if you ask! |
